My son sat his grammar school exam
On the 17th of September and during the half time break he felt a bit sick. He was sent home by the examiners and so was unable to sit the second half of the exam. I have emailed the council to ask if they will allow him to sit the second half and complete the exam but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and if you know if it is likely that they will allow him to compete the exam? I am really anxious as he worked so hard for the lead up to the exam and he really wants to finish the test.

Have you got a letter with FAQs or guidance for this?

Our test is today and it says if a child is ill during the test they cannot resit the paper they started, even if they didn't finish, but can resit the 2nd paper if they didn't start it. You (for our school) need to fill in the special circumstances form and they will take it from there.

Good luck and I hope he's feeling better. My DS has an awful cold but very keen to go ahead today anyway.

What will happen depneds on the school/LA involved. Without knowing that, any answers would be guesses.

Hi
i had this with my child who was stopped midway through the second paper and sent home. The admissions lady came and spoke to me as did the head and said there was no way my child could resit when better and the best route was an appeal and they would be happy to provide a letter of support should it come to this.

As it turned out there was no need to appeal as child got a place anyway.
I would make sure you have a doctor’s note if possible (not sure if you can get one retrospectively) and see if the incident is documented in the invigilator notes in case of appeal. Also start gathering academic evidence as if you need to appeal this will be the key part rather than the extenuating circumstances on the day.
Good luck, I was so upset for my child after all that work so I know how you feel.
