When do 2023 GCSES finish?

I'm back from our holiday and it's dawned on me that the youngest will finish Y11 next year so we don't have to stick to school holidays for the first time in years.

So does anyone know what date the GCSES will definitely be over by?

This year the last contingency day was 29th June. My DD finished on the 23rd and we did exactly that, went on holiday first week of July.
Bear in mind there are things like prom, leavers assembly, 6th form taster days etc at the End of the year as well.

PritiPatelsMaker · 10/08/2022 19:11

Thanks for that Akite. I'd forgotten about the Prom so I suppose I'll have to wait to find out when that is.

Not sure she'll be doing 6th Form Taster Days. She's pretty sure that she doesn't want to go to the rather good, local Sixth but that's a whole different thread...

I dont think the dates are published yet.

The provisional timetable for 2023 haven't been published yet (they are usually published in early September).

cathcath2 · 10/08/2022 21:50

*timetables

PettsWoodParadise · 12/08/2022 09:05

Exam timetables are later this year as 2022 was a year they put more gaps between exams to allow for absences due to Covid etc and hopes a pupil could attend at least one of the exams. They are getting feedback to see if this format should be continued or revert to a shorter time frame. Feedback from a friend who had a DD doing exams this year was it horribly drawn out, draining etc for her DD2 compared to her DD1 who did exams pre Covid.

DD is doing A levels in 2023 so watching with interest and been stalking the exam board websites. The draft exam timetables for DD’s GCSEs were released in about March the year before she was due to take them so 18 months ahead, of course those exams never happened…

I was going to post similar to PettsWood above but the official school leaving date for Year 11's will be Friday 30th June. It is extremely unlikely that any exams would be timetabled after that date.

Rollingdownland · 17/10/2022 11:33

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone know when GCSEs will START this summer?

Comefromaway · 17/10/2022 11:52

The provisional timetable says 15th May. However the comments period has only just ended so there may be slight amendments depending on any issues that have been raised.

Comefromaway · 17/10/2022 11:53

Taking note that schools can do the language speaking test any time from 3rd April to 19th May.

TeenDivided · 17/10/2022 12:24

Also Drama performances may be early (& any other random practicals)

Comefromaway · 17/10/2022 12:52

Yes, music, food tech, those kind of subjects

Rollingdownland · 17/10/2022 14:13

Thank you so much @Comefromaway et al
