Can anyone give me an overview of this school please? My daughter has scored very highly on her Year 5 CATS and it was suggested we look around here.
We’re in Maidstone so if anyone has any info about the journey that would be amazing as this is what is concerning us the most.

The journey will be very tiring, even if you live near Maidstone West or Barracks, worse if not. The Girls Grammars in Maidstone are both Outstanding and have higher progress 8 scores than Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls, so I am not sure why anyone would prefer their child to travel an extra 2-3 hours minimum a day. (I could understand it more for boys grammars). 2 hours is a huge amount of time - for homework and chill out time. Speaking as a parent of a child that goes to school from Maidstone to Tonbridge each day - both he and we would prefer a much shorter journey but for other reasons the Maidstone boys grammars are not suitable.

Thank you for your response. I’m just looking at options at the moment. It’s interesting to hear from someone who is doing that journey. Could I ask how your son travels? Is it by train? I noticed that there’s only 1 direct train which gets in to Tonbridge at 8:24 but worried this would be too late.

My daughter went to Maidstone Grammar and then Tonbridge Grammar for 6th form. She says Maidstone is just as good in terms of teaching. Personally, I think the journey would add too much to an already intense day. Good luck to your daughter. She is very lucky to have the choice. The dedication of the teachers at these schools is very humbling ❤️
