Hi, I am looking for info/feedback on Shiplake College….Anyone with boys there now and also info on Year 7 entry? Very sporty not super academic son but he likes to be challenged. Thank you

Hey. I have a Yr8 boy there.

Similarly very sporty but not especially academic (though many there are - it’s a mixed bag).

He’s very happy there.

For entry they do some testing and a day at the college in groups I think. (But my son went for the sports scholarship so may not be remembering correctly). Personality and the interview are more important than being super academic.

Happy to answer any questions.

Thank you @Delatron that's really helpful. Does your son board ? Decisions, decisions !

He doesn’t board as we live not too far away but the boarding set up seems really good.

Hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. We are looking to move our Son from his current prep school into Yr 7. Because we are sooo last minute there are questions we haven't asked... specifically my Son wants to know if they have any overseas trips in Yr 7 & 8 :). Also keen to know what the community is like, are there many socials ? Thank you in advance

Hi, I’m afraid I don’t have all the intel yet as we are just going into Year 6 at my son’s prep. However, I keep hearing great things about Shiplake both for sports and academics. Someone already there may have more info. Good luck !

They have a school ski trip in Yr7 (every year I think) and then they also did a PGL type trip to Jersey in June in Yr 8, in Yr 7 they went to Dorsey I think..

Feel free to ask any more questions. My son has made a lovely group of friends, now going in to Y9.

New inspection report just out showing excellent in all areas.
