Is this acceptable teaching?

Dd (Year 10) has been complaining to me recently about the teaching in History. She says they’ve been spending large amounts of lesson time copying out pages of the textbook.

Is this usual practice in lessons? It’s a student teacher placement if that makes a difference. I did query it with the head of History who told me that this teacher has other teaching activities than ‘textbook work’.

I've had exactly the same complaints from DC yr 10 about history too. And highlighting text on worksheets. Not a student teacher though...

Not the case here. In fact I think they barely see the text book. Is it catch up work for things that were taught remotely during Covid (I know my DD has bemoaned the lack of stuff in her workbook for reason)?
