Dd has come home upset because one 20-marker was on rebranding, a topic she had been told had been taken out of the spec!

And another 20-marker was on how trade on bananas affects individuals - FFS.

Spins like a tough paper. Anyone else?

DS quite liked it :) But then he's struggled with his other two subjects so it was always going to be good by comparison.
He said the rebranding question was not out of the syllabus and it was answerable just on general knowledge, so hopefully your DD managed to make a decent attempt. Actually he did say the case studies they'd covered in class weren't very relevant to the questions, and you had to use a lot of personal knowledge.

Dd got an AI sheet from AQA saying rebranding would not be covered...

Not involved, but from reading here these advance information sheets seem to me to be more trouble than they are worth.
Not being on the AI sheet is not the same as being taken off the spec though, surely? Did it actually say not being examined, or was it just not mentioned, but there was a catch all of other topics may also come up?

I agree - the same has hastened in other subjects too. Yes, the AI sheet clearly listed to topics that had been cut from the exam...

The AI for the 2 AQA A levels my DD is doing listed the areas which would be the major focus for each exam paper. Neither specifically removed anything from the spec, and both clearly stated that the whole spec should still be covered and could be featured in the exams. I'm surprised that this was different for other exams covered by the same board.

I agree with Seeline. Removed? Ds1 is doing 3 x AQA and we talked about AI, and the understanding that all syllabus could be examined despite what AI recently announced.

Just looked at DS's copy of the advanced information for AQA Geography A Level and it only talks about main focuses of questions - it doesn't explicitly exclude anything. So either your DD has misunderstood it, or her teachers have provided her with some incorrect information. Either way, I suggest she is very careful about how she uses the AI in future exams.
