Grammar school/ girls schools in Bromley

Hi All, we are looking to relocate to Bromley (from India) in July.

Looking for some good girls schools/ grammar school in this area..please suggest. Also advise on places to live ( safety, parks, accessibility to schools - being a priority)

Please advise if we have to register with the council and if there would be entrance exams that my DD has to write?

As per previous post she has missed 11+ entry for grammar schools as she will be year 7 in September(assuming she does not turn 12 by August 31st). There may be an occasional place route for which she can join a waiting list and then be assessed if a place arises but otherwise the Local Authority will allocate wherever has a vacancy and this may not necessarily be close to your address.

Thanks LIZS, understand your point about year 7 and reaching out to LA.

Which areas should we think of renting ( petswood, chiselhurst, Bickley, Orpington) to give ourselves a higher possibility of getting into a decent school?

Sorry don't know the area well enough. It will be very much down to vacancies , which I'm afraid may currently be at less popular schools, Your choice may be limited even if you moved close to a popular one. You may be lucky and get a place from waiting list nearer the time or after term starts but you need a local address first.

Bullers Wood (all girls) is good.
hayes is also good (mixed).

They will already have allocated for year 7 September though back in March

The only state girls grammar in Bromley is Newstead Woods School in Orpington / it is super selective and has a very hard entrance exam. Some children travel to grammars in Kent or Bexley. Eg Wilmington ( girls grammar) or Tonbridge Grammar school (girls), Townley Grammar (also girls only).

There are some good comprehensives in the area. For example Darrick Wood, Bishop Justus and Charles Darwin and the ones that have already been mentioned.

Bromley doesn't have Grammar Schools, only the super selective Newstead as mentioned above.

There are lots of nice areas to live around Bromley and most of the schools are good. If you are looking for a Private School then there is Bromley High.

Hayes, Chislehurst, Beckenham and West Wickham are all nice.

There is a girls school in Beckenham (Langley Girls) and Bullers Wood in Chislehurst.
