Would love to hear from people who have children at this school. Also, people who considered it and decided to send their child elsewhere. Would be great to have some candid reviews. Currently considering it as a possible option for my DC.

TIA

Surely, someone has a view in this school…

I'm surprised you haven't had more replies. I don't personally know any kids there are it's a bit too far north but I know it's historically been a very sought after school. I don't know if it still is, I know Enfield is having a bit of an exodus of families as it's becoming quite rough.

Thanks for the reply @Meadowbreeze. Hopefully I’ll get some more replies to give some more info.

Anyone familiar with the school?

No first hand experience. Aware of school. Don’t hear bad things about it but not as sought after as some other options in the area, such as Ashmole and Highlands.

My Mum went back in the 70s and absolutely hated it.

When I was at school in Palmers Green and then Finchley between 2004 and 2008 Winchmore was an absolute dump of a school with no end of problems, anti social behaviour, truancy, drugs, fights. It was well known within the area and quite dangerous, due to it's "knife culture".

Obviously now we are in 2022 so things may have changed - I hope they have! I know Enfield has some excellent single sex schools, if I was in the area I'd be considering those over Winchmore, Highlands and Ashmole. Latymer is probably the best school in the area, but I appreciate you may not have started prepping your child at 6 for their "eleven plus"🙄

Winchmore used to have a terrible reputation , but it is considered a solidly good school these days. I have an old (teacher) colleague whose DC are there and she was very happy with it. Go and have a look round and see what you think.

Thanks all for the replies. Been giving it some thought and will do some more reasearch.

It was a definite avoid when I was applying to secondaries in 1997. Glad to hear it's improved.
