DC is in Year 13 doing Further Maths at a selective sixth form. As the school has a large FM cohort, they had a choice of options for FM2. My DC chose Further Stats 2. They were encouraged to also do lessons for Further Pure 2, to keep options open, and could do both exams, but in the end my DC only registered for the FS2 exam, not the FP2 exam.
Today I suddenly had an anxious thought (not shared with DC) so looking for an answer....
Would I be right in thinking that fewer schools offer FS2, and that they're likely to be the more selective schools, with bigger Further Maths cohorts? If so, does that mean grade boundaries are likely to be higher for FS2 than FP2? Or do they take the cohort profile into account when setting grade boundaries?
