Any views/expeience of this school? Our Year 9/3 DD is desperately unhappy in her large co-ed school. She is fine academically, fine socially with small group of girl friends, totally intimdated by numbers of alpha males and by size of school, which has doubled this year.

She is bright, articulate, sensitive, caring, more introvert/reserved than extravert. Now fearful, anxious and without confidence.

Needs somewhere genuinely caring, without too much girl-bitching, but quite academic.

Well, I've never heard anything bad about either school you're asking about but definitely wouldn't describe either as academic.

I think I'd want to be sure that its financial position was secure, bearing in mind the events which led to its foundation.

Crikey, don't know anything about that. (Not from the area) - can you expand Ubergeekian?

Umm, check the history of the merger.
