Relocating to Esher

We are currently looking for a property in Esher (or possibly Cobham or Oxshott). We have a 12 year old. Does anyone have any knowledge of state schools in these areas? I've had a look online and it's so hard to tell from a website. Thank you.

Cobham Free school is desirable but may be full. Hinchley wood school is also desirable. Esher Church of England is fine. You are looking until end of GCSE's as Esher College is an excellent 6th form college.

So going into Y8 in September? You may be lucky with Cobham Free - it's a great school, but very limited places so an in-year transfer may work. Alternatively there's Esther High but it has mixed reviews. Sadly most of the schools in that area are private, as you would expect from the house prices 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have enquired at Cobham Free School and they are full with a waiting list.
Good to get feedback on the others though, thanks.

I would find out if Esher High has space. If it doesn't you may be offered Three Rivers Academy which you should visit before making a firm commitment to a house move etc.

bobisbored · 20/05/2022 16:45

Is Three Rivers not good then?

I'm not a parent so can't comment. The school was previously called Rydens but has been taken over / rebuilt.

Ok, thanks. I appreciate your help.

Hinchley Wood is massively popular and over-subscribed. You'd need to move very close to it to stand a chance of getting in off the waiting list. Three Rivers used to be seen as a school to avoid but the new leadership team seem to be making a difference - their Ofsted is now much better. We looked at Esher High, which seemed fine, but definitely isn't Hinchley Wood or Cobham Free School.

Three Rivers is good. Getting better with every new intake. Plus there is the option for 10.5 GCSEs other than the usual 9 that others offer.

Thank you all. I have put her on the waiting list for CFS and have contacted Hinchley Wood 👍🏻
