GCSE reduced content - confused!

Hi,

If reduced content has been given for a GCSE exam this year does that mean this is the only part of the syllabus that needs to be revised/learnt?
The school seem to be saying yes but the exam board website seems to be saying that other parts of the syllabus not on the reduced content list can also be in the exam for multiple choice and short answer questions.

Is that right? I don't want child to be revising parts of the syllabus if they don't need to. But if it can all be on there why give the list?

Thanks.

It depends. Some subjects have sections taken away, so they would revise everything but that section, others have advanced information on what extended writing questions will be about, with all other information covered in the smaller questions.

What exam board and subject is it?

Hi, its citizenship edexcel

The first document on this link has the list of content that will be covered. Multiple choice questions can cover anything so worth reading over and there is an extra section which hopefully will mean more to your DC (I don't teach citizenship) good luck!

Advanced information

Yes, things not listed on the advanced info may still be tested in the exam but only as v small mark questions, or possibly as assumed knowledge to answer a question on a topic that was listed.
