Carshalton secondary school help....

Hi,

I wondered if anyone has kids that attend either Carshalton boys or Oaks Park High and what you think of them ?

The catchment distance seems to be very strict with sutton Borough schools and these are our 2 nearest (apart from grammar schools which I don't think are for us). Some of the better schools on paper like greenshaw and glenthorne I just don't think we'd get into so we may have narrowed it down to these two

I don't have children who have gone to either but I have worked with Carshalton in my job. I've never met a head teacher so passionate about education and the boys in his school but equally passionate about the development of his teachers and nurturing an environment where they will love what they do and want to stay at the school. He's a vocal voice amongst schools who take trainee teachers but honestly I gave huge admiration for him.

I've also spent some time in the school (a day here and there) and liked what I saw. Well mannered and happy boys in the main.

Not sure if that helps but it's what I know!

I know people with children at both schools, Car Boys in general seems to have more positive feedback. Oaks Park feedback is very mixed, some love it and some hate it but don't have other options, although it is apparently improving. We didn't like it when we looked round and didn't even list it on our CAF in the end. Car Boys was our preferred choice after Sutton and Wally Boys grammars.
