We're looking to move to the Harrogate area - we've lived there previously but never with DC. Does anyone know if moving to Bilton would be OK to get in to HG? I know they use distance to decide as opposed to catchment areas, but just wondered if anyone had any knowledge. Thanks!

Which year entry are you looking for? If main entry for Year 7 then Bilton is too far to secure a place. Furthest admitted is just over/around 1 mile in most years.

yes, i think to be really confident of getting in you need to be either getting one of the places set aside for rural applicants (I'm not sure how those are allocated - if by distance you'd be best off in one of the 'barely rural' village-suburbs like pannal or killinghall) or else be within about a mile or so's distance. it's a tad unfair, 'in my day' applications from the (generally cheaper) outer suburbs were on par with more central ones, not not now.

Bilton is too far away- you need to be within a mile really. We are 1.2 miles and weren't expecting a place but were really lucky with a low birth rate year.

No. It has never been in the distance even before the rural passport changes and the new housing up by HG (with lots more going up)
