Non exam assessment grade

Hi , my child is in year 11 and was given a non exam assessment distinction in English
What does this mean ?

Is it the Spoken English part of the GCSE course?

I'd assume the spoken element of English (Language) as well.
Did your child not know?

Yes it’s the spoken part of the exam , my child was told around Xmas time but didn’t mention it the email just came through
Does a distinction contribute to the GCSE

The spoken element of gcse English was removed from the grade a few years ago.

Yeah, it's just a separate bit that was reported separately and I don't think it's even reported anymore. But well done to your DD for her excellent grade 👏 👍! Nice one.

It does appear on your certificate next to your "actual" GCSE grade.
