Waiting list 2022 - SW London

We are on waiting list for 2 independent schools in sw london. Have chased for an update as have to put a deposit down on a 3rd school and the 14 day cooling off period ends this Monday. Any experience of movement on WL at this late stage?? Admissions officer won’t tell us where we are on either school and confirmed school is full and unlikely to be much movement now 😢

@Babymomma47 , as recently discussed on the SW London girls thread there may be a small amount of movement when the Tiffin WL is announced, this is because some of students will gain a Tiffin place and reject a private place losing the deposit. To monitor the Tiffin WL you need to follow the Surrey forum section of elevenplusexams.co.uk
Also there will be a tiny bit of movement around the 19th April, this is because if you give notice before start of summer term you may avoid paying autumn term fees. (Sometimes the reality of the cost of private fees only hits during the Easter holidays).
Once we get into May the Tiffin WL will keep moving leading to state secondary and private places being rejected but anyone accepting a private place may have to pay the autumn term fees of any school they then reject - it's school dependent.

That’s really helpful. Thank you @hockeygrass it’s all a bit of minefield and don’t want to keep annoying the admissions officers

Sorry for jumping on your thread Babymomma, we have DD waiting on a 10+ list very very high up for place in year 6, to start this September. DD in Year 5 and would love to start new school.

We are gutted to have missed things and were so close to getting a space, so I understand how you feel.

We think it's unlikely now for us - but wondering if someone might change their mind or move abroad or stay at state school and go for 11+....

I hope your DS gets a place. From memory at 11+ (I've done this once before for older DD, there was movement and some people got spaces in July and August) as some people choose to go for state option and lose their deposit, it definitely does happen. Even on first day of term, some people just don't turn up! Don't give up all hope just yet.

But at 10+ we think it's very unlikely and just so disappointed not to have got in :(

I feel your pain @JulieBeds and it’s tough living in limbo.

@Babymomma47 I totally understood how u feel. Sigh, my DD is on the WL of her first choice independent school too. I read thread that we should tell the school that the school is our first choice. Hence, we sent email, gave calls... But after March 7, the school sent out email that all the spaces for year 7 are filled. I don't know what else we should do now. Just feeling hopelessly waiting...

What schools are you waiting on? I think if they’ve said they are full then they would be unlikely to give a place now. It would be better to embrace the place you have and enjoy it. It really depends which schools though.

@1forward2back I know. Maybe get her prepared for year 8 if any occasional places. Thanks for your kind words. xx
