Hi,

How old is your son? And how academic is he?
You can't really choose a school based on % that go to Oxford or Cambridge because it says more about the intake than the teaching a lot of the time - there is no 'guaranteed' route. Also your son may pick a course for which those are not the best universities.

(You may find you get more responses if you repost with the spelling of the School correct - Eton College.)

At Eton every boy, pretty much without exception, applies to Oxbridge.

About a third of these Eton applicants get in. As recently as the mid 2010s this proportion was nudging almost as high as half. A third is obviously still a huge proportion in the grand scheme of things but if anything I'd guess that it's set to fall rather than recover.

I'd be surprised of that information is not available on Eton's website. However Oxbridge is not the be all and end all and remember Eton is not fully academically elite. How old is your ds? Are you using a prep school with a record of successful Eton applications?

nolanscrack · 14/03/2022 14:53

"Not fully academically elite" what does that actually mean...?

LIZS · 14/03/2022 15:02

Academics may not be the only selection criteria

nolanscrack · 14/03/2022 15:33

You are correct but that doesnt back up your statement..

Current age of your son is critical. You may have already missed the deadlines. But please don't pick any school.on your wish for your child to use it as a means of getting to Oxford or Cambridge. You do not know now what your child may choose to do at university. The best university for their future career could well not be Oxbridge. The vast majority of successful people go elsewhere
