Hi there just hoping to get advice about experience with waiting list to either st Marylebone girls school or The Greycoat Hospital. Did Anyone in Band A open place manage to get an offer and how far were you on the waiting list ? Thank you
Any experience very much appreciated

Hi

My daughter got a language place offer on the 1st March from GCH (we've accepted) and after an initial decline by MGS they emailed yesterday to offer her a place (which I declined today). So things are obviously moving quite fast.

They never stated where she was on the waitlist but she is in Band A and we had applied for an open place - we live just under a mile away.

Lindaelisa · 23/03/2022 20:02

Thank you so much for replying ☺️ Really pleased for you, that you were offered a place in GCH.
Its great to know that things are moving, it gives us hope as we should be in the top 10 waiting list, we might have moved a few places 😀

Will share the good news here in case we get offered a place. Just wondering if you or anyone else here knew where they were ranked on the waiting list for GCH in the letter they normally post because we only received an online version which only states how places were allocated, nothing about band or how far on waiting list. Just a bit confused with that. Thank you in advance

Good luck and I think it's all about holding your nerve and hanging in there as things do change enormously. Fingers crossed for you :-)

Tsha73 · 23/03/2022 20:44

And to add that the original email I had from MGS told is we were on the waiting list but didn't state where

@ChairCareOh

Does anyone know the maximum distance places are being offered for GCH? We live 1.5km away and wouldn’t qualify for a place on religious grounds. Thinking about applying next year.
For open places 2022: Band A 0.713 miles Band B 0.193 miles Band C. Siblings only

Don't let that put you off, do apply for the language aptitude test (no distance restrictions) and an open place. You never know.

Mummacake · 24/03/2022 08:30

A couple of girls from my daughter's primary school are at GCH & live about 2-3miles away. 2 were offered spaces from the waiting list during the summer holidays so it'd constantly moving.best of luck!

Thank you 🙏 @Tsha73. In regards to distance it changes slightly every year depending on bands and applicants , but open places are a bit different, the catchment area seems to be a lot smaller but again you really never know, did you find out where @ChairCareOh you are on the waiting list though ? It might give you an idea

For those that applied for a language place for 2022 - did you receive the results of the language test? I was told we didn't make wait list but would be sent the language scores by post but never received anything. Just curious to know how far off we were!

Lindaelisa · 24/03/2022 17:06

@ChairCareOh oh ok, good luck then 🍀, @BettySundaes in regards to languages places, it’s apparently only if your daughter scored high that she joins the waiting list. Not everyone goes on that waiting list. But did you find out what band she is in GCH ? and where on the waiting list ? Did anyone manage to get an answer to that ? Cuz they haven’t answered.

BettySundaes · 24/03/2022 19:57

@Lindaelisa when we got the email saying she didn't make waitlist it said their would be a follow up letter with her score. I didn't apply in any other category as I knew our chances were pretty much zero.

Lindaelisa · 24/03/2022 20:16

Well if it said there should be a follow up letter, then maybe give them a call and find out, also if you applied for the language test you will
Most definitely be on the waiting list for open places, did your daughter sit the banding test ? @BettySundaes

BettySundaes · 25/03/2022 09:59

@Lindelisa No we didn't do the banding test - there was no point as we aren't Christian and live several miles away. Anyway we got our first choice school. As I said it was just out of curiosity - this wasn't the only school where she had to do a test and then never got the results.

Tsha73 · 25/03/2022 10:36

@BettySundaes Excellent news that you got your first choice.

Just in case it helps anyone else - You do have to do the banding test to be considered for any of the places at GCH (and MGS). Without it you won't be put on their lists or considered at all. It's part of the application.

It's nothing to do with the religious places (I am an atheist)

BettySundaes · 25/03/2022 11:24

You can gain a language place without doing banding at GCH - those places are a discrete category.

That's true for St Marylebone for any place, but @BettySundaes is correct that GCH do not require you to sit the banding test if you are going for language place. Friend's daughter just missed out on a language place last year (but was very high on waiting list) and had not sat banding test.

Hi we just received a letter from St Marylebone for Girls having tried for the drama aptitude test. We didn't make it but we are on the reserve list. They have not told us our place in the list. Is this normal? I have been calling the school but haven't been able to get through. Any guidance please?
