hi, I applied to two schools but both refused and instead offered the school we never visited neither apply. My sister has had a bad experience with the school offered hence being reluctant to send my child there. I seem not to find strong points please help. In the meantime should I reject the offer given?

Try posting here for help : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary

And definitely do NOT reject the offer as they are then not obliged to offer anything else.

no, don't reject the offer - if you do that the LA have discharged their duty in offering you a place.
Accept, go on waiting lists for other schools and consider an appeal - there are experts on here who'll give good guidance about appeals.

You’ll be best off posting in the Secondary Education section (or you can report your post and ask MNHQ to move it).

In summary:

Do not reject the offer. The council have no obligation to find you another school and it at least gives you a fall back unless you can go private or are prepared to homeschool indefinitely.

Make sure you are on the waiting list for anyone school you would consider.

Check the threads in Secondary Education for useful information on appeals. The only thing you have to lose by appealing is time and energy, so you may as well try even if you think you don’t have a strong case.

Why did you choose only two schools? Are there any other schools you might fund more acceptable than offered one, if so join their waiting lists as well as the two.

thank you everyone, have moved my post.
