Hi,
We passed the 11+ exam in Sutton, but today got the results to get in greenshaw. Although it's quite disappointed, but think how big change to have waiting list offer?
By the way, is Greenshaw a good school? I saw some good comments and some bullying comments ... very struggling....Hmm

Each of the Sutton grammar schools hold their own waiting lists. They will not be able to tell you your position until just after Easter. Movement varies each year, generally top 10- 15 will gain entry to school by late June but you can call the admissions officer for each school for up-to-date information.

Be aware that they allow late admissions to the waiting list plus appeals, which means you may go down the waiting list. Have a look at the 11+ forum Surrey thread. There are some well informed people who support the thread this time of year.

Make sure you accept the school you have been offered and depending on your council you maybe able to join the waiting list for other schools with no or small waiting lists.

I think they offer Greenshaw a lot, we got offered it too but wasn’t interested as we had a good secondary we had a guaranteed place at (feeder school). DS did amazing there - he sits A levels this year. Considering he was turned down for the grammars it certainly didn’t disadvantage him in anyway

Greenshaw is a good school. However it is basically a comprehensive with a few pupils admitted on a selective basis. Are you local or did you get a selective place? If you are local then I'd think it was a decent option. People near me just missed out on places there last year and were disappointed. However if you got a selective place, it might not be worth the travel depending on if you have a decent local option.

Re. the bullying, sadly I think there is an element of this in all school and I doubt the grammars are exempt.

Keep everything crossed for the waiting list as some will go private, but you may need to be realistic depending on your position.

Hi OP. Have you compared your DD's score against historical acceptance data? It can give you a good idea re how likely a place from the waiting list will be. Feel free to PM me.

Anyone can clarify what do parents generally do if their child is banded lower than they expected in London oratory after accepting the offer? Thanks

tennissquare · 19/09/2023 22:52

@KashBonn , there is a thread in this section called London Oratory Recent experiences that might help you.

Thanks. I’m not sure how to access it? New to this platform.
