Appeal if on the waiting list?

We applied out of catchment to the closest school (2.3 miles away, 5.6 miles for the catchment school) but have been placed on the waiting list and offered the catchment school instead.

I can’t send him to the catchment school, he’s been bullied terribly and is seeing a therapist as a result. The bus alone would terrify him.

Do I need to appeal or do I wait out the waiting list? I have no idea how this works.

Hi, how did you find out what number you are on the waiting list?
I can’t any options to see it.
I only see that they will be two rounds of continuing interest in April.
We got fourth school on our list, which is much further . We are on automatic continuous interest for the first one..however I can’t see what number my child is..

Contacted the LEA admissions office, they checked for me and advised to call again on Friday.
