Are they full time in school until June? (Mainstream, not private)

Depends on the school. Mine finish at May half term for both yr 11 and 13

springisaroundthecorner · 22/02/2022 09:20

Oh no! So that's 4 months until college ??!

Officially not until July as they can be recalled, but in practice they usually finish start of June when exams are in full swing.

lanthanum · 22/02/2022 09:55

Exams continue until nearly the end of June, so regardless of when the school allows them to stop attending full-time (which varies from school to school), they'll still be in school pretty regularly until 23rd, and need to be available until 29th. Watch out for college induction days, too.

springisaroundthecorner · 22/02/2022 10:04

So no lessons to help them up to exams ??!

@springisaroundthecorner

So no lessons to help them up to exams ??!
Surely that will depend on the school?
MirandaWest · 22/02/2022 10:07

It depends on the individual school. Don’t know what will happen for my year 11 and year 13 yet but presume we’ll get told at some point!

Both the school I work in and my son's school no longer have study leave. The pupils stay until about 11 June.

Legoisthebest · 22/02/2022 10:23

Once the exams start (middle of May?) then there are no more lessons. Some schools will expect students there in school for their study leave, some all the study is done at home, some may open for students who don't have a suitable place for study at home. It will depend on the school.
If you are worried about your child being bored between school and college there is loads they can do and this is the rare chance in life where you get a little bit of freedom with no real pressure.
Your child could get a summer job, do volunteer work, sign up for NCS.
They could learn something random that isn't a school subject that you have to take an exam (YouTube can pretty much teach you anything).
Learn an extra language.
Read books without having to analyse them.
Or...1001 other things.

actiongirl1978 · 22/02/2022 10:26

Pupils are usually expected in full time until two weeks after gcses begin and may half term.

After that they just come in for exams until the end of June.

springisaroundthecorner · 22/02/2022 10:27

I will ask school. Different schools seem to do different things ?

Exams are e same nationwide - you should have the timetable, or it can be accessed online for each exam board if you know which spec for each subject. But they will be going on until late June. It depends on the school whether they keep them on school during that time.

Silkierabbit · 23/02/2022 19:04

Ours stop 13th May, exams start 16th May and half term is off, exams need to keep until and including 29th June available (contingency day), think DDs last one is 24th June. After that Leavers Day and Prom.

whenwillthemadnessend · 23/02/2022 19:08

Can anyone link a timetable?
