Cleeve School Cheltenham

Morning,

Does anyone have any recent experience of Cleeve School in Cheltenham please? We are looking at a potential move there next year and our children would enter Year 9 and Year 11 (although our eldest may go elsewhere as she is looking to do dance which I don't believe they offer).

The last Ofsted was 2019 so I'm looking for recent experiences if possible. Our younger daughter is currently studying Mandarin (MEP) so she would like to continue that as her GCSE language which is offered there. She's also very arty and loves reading. Our eldest is very much into performing arts but I'm assuming there are plenty of opportunities for further study elsewhere in the area.

Is the school friendly? What is leadership like? I understand it went slightly downhill but had a new Head in the last few years so I'm wondering whether things have improved?

Thanks so much for any insight! Big decision so want to get it right.

Silly me - I mean our eldest would enter Year 12, in the Sixth Form.

Have you looked at Balcarras? Best comprehensive in the South West.

Disclaimer - I work there 😀

Thank you. I have looked at Balcarras, yes. It looks excellent but I assumed you would be very oversubscribed (I know you need to live very close to secure a place). Also, my daughter currently does 4 hours Mandarin a week with the Mandarin Excellence Program and I'm unsure whether she could take a GCSE it there? She obviously wouldn't want to pick up another GCSE language at that point. Are you able to shed any light on this?
