My DS got into MGS - we are obviously really proud of this given how hard he worked and the pain he went through but now we have to decide if we can afford it especially given the very negative economic outlook - I reckon it will be £20k all in with tuition, lunch and travel and trips etc etc

Any mums in here have their kids at MGS and what are your experiences like?

Thanks

I have no idea what MGS is like now, but when I attended it, from 1973 until 1977 it proved to be a deeply unpleasant learning environment. Physical, psychological and sexual abuse were a big buried problem. One of my abusers was the school doctor called Fisher who was got rid of when his habit of bouncing naked boys up and down on his own naked lap in the very naked after school teachers and boys sessions was exposed by a young and not yet tainted teacher. After decades of service the pederast Dr Fisher was got rid of without fanfare and we got a new doctor equipped with a chaperone nurse.

Clearly the school knew Dr Fisher was up to no good and that is why they got rid of him. But they never informed parents that an abuser had been in their children's midst. Nor have they ever disowned the paedophile doctor.

A trek through their self congratulatory Ulula (it's the call of an Owl, their sacred symbol) magazine will reveal the "bad" doctor still being eulogized in the 2000's.

I would never send any child of mine to a school so plainly intent on covering up its (probably) enormous past derelictions of duty. Child care? In my day it didn't exist there. And to this day they will not own up to their very shoddy past.

@richie9648 did your DS go in the end?

I went there in the 1970's. It was a vile place where bullying, psychological abuse and sexual abuse were rife. I doubt it has changed significantly. Steer well clear.
