CLSB 13+ WL

We thought we wouldn’t receive CLSB 13+ results until next week but it came yesterday. DS is on the “reserve list”. We have a Highgate 11+ offer in hand but we prefer staying 2 more years at his current prep and moving at year 9. His prep head seems very confident that DS will get a city 13+ place but it’s a matter of waiting.
On City’s email they said the acceptance deadline is 20th May. It’s very late! Is it possible we hear from them before this? I heard sometimes a 13+ place is only available in the summer after year 7! By the time we will be at Highgate - then change school again at year 9? How does it work? DS current prep is till 13 so we really would like to stay but also feel it’s a huge risk if we don’t accept Highgate now. Any advice please?

@7plus11plus , gosh you have had a busy few months (in the primary Ed section of MN), must be on your knees with it all!
Your prep head will be very keen to keep your ds for 2 more years and they will put pressure on CLSB to get you an indication of a place before Highgate closing date. I would be guided by your prep and if you don't mind losing the Highgate deposit you have got until the last day of the Easter holidays at either your prep or Highgate (whichever date comes first) to decide where to give notice for the autumn term and where to accept for the autumn term - read the notice periods for each school really carefully.

@sunshineclouds24 I’m barely holding up 😂 feeling so drained after months of stress! The problem is I think our head is not too keen as he is leaving end of the school year!

Oh no, I would just take a step back and see how it plays out, it's great your dd has the Highgate place for now. If there is a change of head at the prep it might be good to move to Highgate and keep CLS in your back pocket.
There is more movement at secondary schools than you would imagine esp @ age 13.

Sorry ds!

Thank you @sunshineclouds24 !
I will keep my fingers crossed!
