My ds is predicted an 8 but got a 4 in recent mocks. They have only just begun pseudo code due to covid/ teacher absences and this is the first time it was assessed and he is clearly struggling. If he doesn't get this up he won't be able to stay where he is for sixth form as it is based on average score across GCSE's. Please can anyone recommend some online tutorials for pseudo code or something that may be helpful to bring this up! I have no clue about CS! Its AQA

I'd go online and look for "free course pseudo code" or similar.

Just had a quick search on YouTube and there's quite a lot of videos explaining it. Good luck to your DS.

You could also look for a tutor in Computer Science - a few sessions may be all he needs to get the basics down and then he can carry on by himself. Again Google is your friend with regards to this...

Thanks you, I have had a look but was wondering if anyone knew of any that were particularly useful

The link above contains the full set of videos needed. Past papers are available from the AQA website and should also be attempted.

Another vote for CraignDave for Computer Science.

Best way to work out how to get his grade up is to get his mock paper home, get the mark scheme up and get him to correct his answers to reflect what the mark scheme says. Give it a couple of weeks then he sits that paper again at home and this time he should get a lot more right.

Just realised the paper may not yet be online so get him to ask school for the mark scheme or hopefully they have already gone over the answers in class. But definitely retake the paper. It is one of the best ways to learn at this point. Plus other past papers.

Thanks so much both of you
