Anyone any experience of GCSE PE moderation?

DD is in Yr 10 of OCR GCSE PE. Her chosen sports are, in order, tennis, swimming and badminton. As tennis and swimming are out-of-school sports we had to submit video evidence of her performing the skills/competing,. We had to submit evidence on two occasions, in November and January. Following the November submission we received nil feedback, neither positive or negative, just nothing. DD has just messaged me from school saying she is now not being allowed to do tennis or swimming as "she isn't good enough" . Both of these sports she does regularly out of school. She has played in local tennis teams and used to swim competitively (and still does in one stroke which she is offering for GCSE). She is not County standard in either of these sports but is much better than she is at her third sport in which she has been given a high grade, even though she only does it at school in the term they actually do it! Her tennis coach - who has dealt with many students doing tennis for GCSE PE - is also astounded as he says DD is much better than students he has taught who have been given grades of 16/17. Anyone experienced anything similar with their DC and GCSE PE? Our inclination is to argue her case for continuing with these sports. The school want her to do athletics which she doesn't do externally and doesn't enjoy and is weaker at than either tennis or swimming! I am totally baffled by all this.

I am amazed you have to submit anything already. My daughter is doing PE and doesn't have to submit anything for another year.

Thank you Hersetta. Exactly the same point was made by the mother of one of DD's friends who is the Exams Officer at the largest secondary school in this district. Their submissions are all in Yr 11 and, as she pointed out, students doing summer sports have to be given the summer to do their sport.

My daughter is also doing swimming as one of her gcse sports. Video evidence has to be submitted by July. One of the criteria is to dive off racing blocks. However she no longer swims competitively as part of a club. Is there anywhere in the country where she can be filmed diving off the blocks?

My son had to be doing his sports competitively but we were told the emphasis was on his improvement (as one, rowing, was a relatively new sport for him), not on his ability per se.
