Input appreciated! Does anyone have preference for their daughter - current pupil or past - advice much appreciated for a local Mum. Is co Ed a good thing - Highgate or SH - good and bad experiences of interest!

We are in the same situation, plus Habs girls and City. Leaning towards City as it’s our nearest.

SH is very small. Highgate is huge. Personally I would prefer a single sex school but that’s my own option. I was upset as City girls opened the co-Ed junior school this year but at least the senior school is all girls.

To add one more thing: SH girls and Highgate girls feel very different. Go have a walk in the area and have a good feel about it. Especially the senior school girls. (I assume you did 7+ to avoid 11+) See which girls you would like your daughter hang out with.

Thank you for your answer, I think that is the issue that I have no point of reference as don’t know anyone at either school, hence why I am asking on here ! Happy for anyone to PM me as realise views can be personal. It’s whether she would flourish co Ed and huge or small and girls only maybe preserving her innocence for longer.. she is at coed now but they are so little that issues don’t present themselves yet.

We were facing the same dilemma 2 years ago! I really like SH and know a lot of girls who are very happy there but my gut feeling was telling me that my daughter would flourish in co Ed school and generally bigger and more diverse one. She is in Y4 now and loves her school a lot, have mixed groups of friends. It’s a hard choice to make to be honest!

Could you please elaborate on this point. What was your perception when you observed both? Might give some insight into single sex vs co-Ed here.
