Catch up funding and National Tutoring Programme

I’m interested in other peoples experiences regarding catch funding.

The Government has made a number of additional funding streams available to schools to assist with the educational recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This money can be used to provide extra tuition and used at the headteachers discretion.

Do you feel your child has benefited from extra support via this funding?

My daughter is in year 11 and following her recent mocks she has been told she is working at level 3 in English. She has never received any extra support.

Just wondering how schools have been using this money that has been allocated and what criteria is in place.

Schools have the discretion to identify pupils most likely to benefit from support.

My dc’s school used catch up funding to offer a week during the summer holidays for those going into Year 7. They did a mixture of ‘getting to know you’ activities, sport and introductory academic work. I haven’t heard of it being used elsewhere in the school.

My dd’s school did sMd as above, summer school for year 6 going into 7.

After school revision tutoring for year 11 started last week.

Is your child’s school providing any after school revision?
