I'm considering Sutton High School for my daughter starting yr 7 in September 2023. Does anyone know what the entrance exams are like? I think they changed them year. Any tips to help DD2 prepare for the entrance process?

Hi, my DDs sat 11+ and 10+ this year.

11+ was 30 min Literacy test, 20 min Numeracy and 40 min non-verbal reasoning.

10+ involved verbal and non verbal reasoning. I would say Sutton High tested them on age appropriate level but not above their age groups as other selective schools did. My DD did bond papers and I would think that's sufficient. The interviews they had were lovely, they both enjoyed the conversation with the heads.

We sat the tests overseas though, I don't know if it's different.

dD sat 11+ and it’s our first choice - we have N offer with an academic award. dD wasn’t tutored but we did some 11+ practice papers online. On the website it says what the exams are and it’s reasoning literacy and numeracy - my dd found the maths a bit harder than the English but it was definitely in line with her year 6 work, she said. We really like the school and we have just booked for the taster day.

I meant to say if your dd is y5, you might want to think about joining in y6. Apparently entry is a bit easier and they get a space in year 7 too. We were going to do this but Kerr it too late to apply last year and year 6 was already full.

Hi, I would also be interested in knowing what these tests are like. My older daughter got into a very academic school. I am looking for a much less academic, competitive environment for my younger daughter. Somewhere where she would be offered more support. Any thoughts on Sutton High and the exams (the level of difficulty compared to other schools).
