Caterham school va Highgate school

My son is offered a place In caterham school
and Highgate school. Any advice?

Where do you live, they are some way apart.

Have you had an 11+ offer for Highgate already? I thought they were only announcing interviews this week or next

As we will come to uk this summer, we have not decided the location we live yet.

Presumably you will be working based somewhere? Do you have a budget for housing as there may be more range of properties in the Caterham area.

Both lovely schools. If you’re not sure, I’d base it on where you want to live- do you want to be in London or on the outskirts, north or south. Budget? Housing within a reasonable distance of Highgate isn’t cheap but it is a lovely part of London. You’ll get more for your money near Caterham.

Hello OP. A good dilemma to have! What year is your child (as I know the 11+ offers are not out for Highgate yet, so it won’t be year 7)? Are they moving from another secondary school?

Sorry, I see it’s 6th form from an earlier answer, apologies - I had missed that. I agree with others on looking at the area of London you want to live in, given your situation.

As I can’t drive, If highgate, is living in colindale ok ?

If caterham, is living in Sevenoaks ok ?

Another question is: highgate 6th form requires students to study 4 a level and EQP, would the workload be too demanding

Caterham only requires students to study 3 a level subjects

You can do 4 at Caterham but only 3 are required by UK unis. Exception is most often Further Maths as a fourth. There is a network of school buses including from Sevenoaks, have a look on the website for routes. Many year 13s drive themselves.
