11+ Sutton Mock Exams

WebbieMumCR · 01/01/2022 16:32

DS will be appearing for 11+ Grammar School exams in Sept. We are planning to book the school PTA Fam tests, but also wondering if there are any private mock tests too? How helpful would those be? Any suggestions on the ones available for Sutton, QE Boys, St. Olave, Kent etc? Thanks

That's quiet a spread geographically. Where on earth are you based?

Blubell46 · 02/01/2022 09:15

@WebbieMumCR I agree that is a spread of location....best looking at the 11plus forum website and tuning into the area

Different areas/ schools have different exams...CEM/ GL...

We didn't do the mocks this year as they were online (unless they ended up changing it) and I think the main thing they can offer over bond tests and the like is the exam room experience.

We are anyways planning to move out of Croydon (where we are currently put up), so based on the chances of getting a place in any of these schools we can look at moving to the respective catchment, if needed.

As for the format, Sutton has SET, (i.e. no specific format), so we are looking at practicing more of GL. Kent too is neither GL or CEM.

I think Kent is GL? Better check, though.

Nonamenoclue · 05/01/2022 23:08

And also check the dates by which you have to move into catchment, if needed.

WebbieMumCR · 05/01/2022 23:39

I checked again and you are right, Kent is GL. St.Olave is SET, which I got confused with Kent. Thanks for calling it out.

I agree with previous poster - we weee going to get DD to sit these at Wallington High School for practice but we pulled out when they were online as we wanted DD to have the experience of strict timed conditions. The grammar tests with hundreds (thousands?) of kids sitting at once can be so overwhelming. The only other thing about the Wallington ones is that you get a sense of where there ‘are’ because I think they give you a ranking of those who sit the mocks. You can buy loads of practice books online though.

There are plenty of independent providers of mocks for Sutton, Kent or Bexley. I bookmarked Chukra ( Kent and Bexley venues and tests), MockTestMasters, Yes in Greenwich ( we are nearby) ( both GL and CEM) . Also www.kentmocktests.org.uk/ has both Sutton and Kent formats. Actually I've googled even more, but looks like these are popular enough. Friends' kids tried chukra nd Yes
