Caterham School

My son has been offered a boarding spot at Caterhan School in Surrey. He is pretty academic but isn't as motivated as others. He enjoys basketball and tennis yet it seems these aren't the main sports in Caterham, for boys at least. Can anyone comment on any aspect of Caterham (i.e. sports, pastoral care...)? The offer is due in the next couple days so any comment and help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Basketball is strong in the boarder community and they do have fixtures against other schools, although not as many as rugby or hockey. Basketball is a after school or lunch activity rather than in games lessons although as get into older years there is more choice in games lessons and basketball can sometimes be offered (not sure which year group offer will be for).
Tennis is a main sport in summer.
Can't comment on the boarding community but they seem to integrate with the day students but also have lots of activities as a boarding community and do lots in the local area e.g rotary Christmas collections etc.

Ime sport is pretty flexible. Ds joined in year 9 and played minimal rugby, hockey or cricket. The houses compete against each other in different activities, such as sport, music, drama etc, and boarders represent their own but are fully integrated in the forms and during the school day. Plenty of cocurricular activities and strong on wellbeing.
