Headington School - Waiting list / over offer

Would anyone have any experience with this school to know what is the chance to get a place from the waiting list? Would you know how much over offer there is for year 7 applicants? I heard that this year there was a really high number of applicants and I just would like like to know if we could hope for a place there from the waiting list? Thank you!

Yes, I believe they had a huge number of applicants this year (attracted by the amazing new facilities, The Hive etc) - maybe some news by end of this month? But possibly not until early March...

Every year there is a lot of movement between Headington, OHS, SHSK etc (ie girls holding multiple offers) so it really will come down to the March date, I’m afraid.

I’ve known girls make it in from the Y7 waiting list every year but it sounds like it may be a bumper crop this year! Do you have other options nearby that are guaranteed?

Yes, we have other options just in case we get nowhere there.

So do we but it’s our first choice...Chocolate, where will you go if Headington doesn’t come through?

I must say the wait is very stressful...

Last Easter, we decided to relocate to Oxfordshire and my daughter sat the 11+ for Headington and a couple of other schools in the Easter holidays so it was very late in the year as they had already offered all the spaces for Y7 entry at this point and there was a waiting list running but from what I've heard and experienced I think they must keep a couple of spaces "free" for out of area candidates like my daughter. We decided in the end to reject the Headington offer and accept another school my daughter preferred slightly more but they held her place open till the 1st week in May so I'm assuming at that late point there is still a bit of movement in waiting lists.

Thanks Mumofthree. Unfortunately, this year Headington have cut their entry down from five forms to four, so think there were a few more spaces last year.
