When are Year II proms, usually? Or when is your DC's scheduled?

I have a year 11 DSC and there's been talk of taking the opportunity to go away for a family holiday after the June exams i.e. reasonably soon after the GSCE reserve date, very late June or early July. But prom?

DSC hasn't had any luck asking the school when it is, and I obviously appreciate they have a lot on and may not even know at this stage what form it will take or when.

Is there a "usual" pattern to give us a steer?

If the school has a Twitter or Facebook page you may be able to get 2019 date and ours is same weekend. 2020s ones were often cancelled.

gogohm · 28/11/2021 16:59

They vary from beginning of May until mid July. But not within the exam period of course. I wouldn't guess it now

Round here they are usually end June to mid July. But some schools have them in May, before exams start.

A lot of schools have a sixth form prom too. You need to ask the school tbh.

Our school.never had anything to do with organising it, it was down to the students. It may depend on an organising committee finding a venue etc so the dates will vary slightly. I imagine most are early July, both my DS's were.

HelloDulling · 28/11/2021 17:44

Early July here.

KittyMcKitty · 28/11/2021 17:51

Pre Covid my children’s school had both year 11 and 13 proms at the end of the exam seasons - I seem to remember year 11 being on 25th June.

This year year 13 prom was in August - 3 days before A level results day and year 11 prom was on 1st September just before the start of term.

RedskyThisNight · 28/11/2021 18:25

Usually first week of July.

After seeing them cancelled for the last 2 years, the school has opted not to set a prom date for 2022 as yet.

Angel2702 · 28/11/2021 18:31

Ours are Huly but judging by the number of hoops you have to jump through to be able to attend I doubt many will be going.

TeenMinusTests · 29/11/2021 08:35

As well as prom, you may (or may not) need to factor in 6th form taster days.

Watapalava · 01/12/2021 23:06

Prom here is mid July
Results 3rd Thursday in august
Then there are taster days for college etc

witsendeverytime · 17/12/2021 16:55

Ours was second week of June.

Kite22 · 17/12/2021 18:57

My dcs' proms were all just after the end of GCSEs - so Last couple of days in June / first couple of days in July.
