Moving to Sheffield- urgent advice needed re schools

Moving to Sheffield Dec 2021- got a place at King Edward VII school but not sure if it’s going to be right for our son as didn’t get to see the school in action. Really need honest info from current parents. Didn’t get a feel for the children, school lovely and good resources but will a very bright and sporty child be happy there?

I don't have kids there - mine are at a different secondary nearby - but I know kids who go there and they seem very happy (also bright, sporty boys). If you want more info on the school there's a local FB page called Friends of S11 - if you post there, you'll find local parents who'll be able to give you more advice

Silverdale and King Ecberts are probably better. But if they are full, you have a decent enough allocation. Where else has spaces? I wouldn’t choose a school without a 6th form and I would choose one with high quality destinations. What school could DS get to if it had spaces?

Hi King Edward's Lower school is at Crospool. The upper school is at Broomhill. Both very good. The school next door to King Edwards lower school is called Tapton. Also a very good. Places at these schools are much sought after.
Depends what catchment you will be living in ? I would image there would be no chance of changing schools now because many schools in Sheffield are over subscribed. A lot of children travel right across the city to attend these schools, which is why there is such pressure on places.

Yes I think they are full- we move mid Dec so I think it’s a case of accepting this place and being pleased that we’ve got a good school and he’s not travelling too far each day.
