Year 11 intervention

I know all schools are different, but in general year 11 intervention is offered to which students in average secondary schools? Is that for students that are struggling? Between a grade 4 and 5 or 3/4 for example?
What about students working at a higher grade, do they get any support?

I'm in charge of some interventions at our school. We focus on students who are in danger of missing their Progress8 measure - that is the number of grades across the board that they "should" get according to the data. But also consider the students before putting intervention in place; are they likely to benefit? Are we just chucking good money after bed? (Poor attenders, disengaged etc)

DD's school has some targetted intervention for maths and English for invited pupils, but other intervention sessions (including maths and English) are open to everyone.

Ds has after school study support sessions. There are a maximum of 3 sessions a week and everyone is meant to attend. Ds does although his current grades are 7s or above. He attended a summer school for grade 9s (most of his grades are 8+) and there was also a summer school for lower grades.

However, they have form intervention every morning for 30 minutes so that is more tailored to the grade levels of the students. You are in the form you need the most help with and can get moved so from English to maths.

The reason we chose the school is because they try to help everyone to increase their grades, the 3 to the 4s but also the 6s to the 7s. At the end the school can honestly say we offered everything, we tried to help and those that engaged and worked did better and felt better.
