Invicta Grammar or Tonbridge Girls Grammar

Hello ladies

We are torn between these two schools. My little girl likes both the schools. My son is already in The Judd so ideally we would like my little girl to go to Tonbridge Girls Grammar.
However, we do really like Invicta too.

We live out of area (Rochester) but my LO got enough score to apply for Tonbridge.

Is anyone out there who considered both these two schools and then went with one? Please could you share your experience and insights?

We have to make a decision by Sunday

Thank you
Kavi

I don’t have DD at either.. but have friends with DDs at both. They are both excellent schools although both have reputations as being hot houses. It might make sense I think personally just to go with the one that’s the easiest journey - Rochester is quite a way from both.

Anecdotally, a good friend with both DDs at Invicta rates it highly but when I was speaking to her very creative and arty eldest, she complained of feeling the pressure of having to be a good at everything and feeling a bit of a failure in certain subjects. I’ve 3 friends with daughters at Tonbridge Girls Grammar, all the girls are strong all rounders and a bit quirky. One of my friends is considering taking her daughter out (Year 9) and moving her to Weald (if she can) as she feels the performance culture is too much. The other two friends are very happy with Tonbridge Girls but in both instances their DDs have struggled to form friendships.

You have a son at Judd so you know all about the pressure of a Super Selective. Invicta might not be Super Selective in terms of intake but it has that reputation. Again, I think personally if you think this the right environment for your DD, culturally they appear from the outside to be very similar so I’d go with ease.

Not sure I’ve been massively helpful as I don’t have direct experience but just that of good friends!
