Apoplying for a school while living outside catchment

Hi - I'd like to apply for a school place for my DD outside of catchment.
She will start year 7 next September and we are planning to move to Chalfont mid next year. It would be great if I could avoid having her face two major school changes in teh next year. Does anyone know how to apply for a school in Buckinghamshire when you live outside the catchment area please?

You just put it on your form, in the order you want it, along with the other schools.

Your LA then passes that information to Bucks LA and it will get considered in the same way as all other applications. Bucks will then inform your LA of the outcome and they work it all out along with the other schools you have listed and you will be offered the highest one from your list that was able to offer you a space.

If it's one of the grammars, have you looked at distance allocated in previous years? To give you an idea of whether you may have a chance of being offered a place from your current address?

The Bucks CC website has lots of information on it.

You do know you've about 3 days to sort this, don't you?

You list it as top choice on your CAF sent to current LA by 31st. However realistically gaining a place at an oversubscribed school when living a distance away is unlikely. There may be a short opportunity to amend your address and be considered "on time" but that is not likely to extend to mid next year when places are allocated by March. Once you move update your address and make sure you are on relevant waiting lists.

Shouldn't your child have done the test by now Confused

Sorry ignore my post - that's only if you want a grammar. But yes deadline is imminent.

Have a good look at the Buckinghamshire Council website, it's all there along with dates & evidence needed. Which school are you hoping for?
I think if you move between Nov 1st & 28 Feb you will be considered in the third round as long as you provide the required information (check, I may have the figures wrong). Third round would be June.

For 2021. The Chalfonts took all applicants it would appear. So you have a reasonable chance of getting a place. Most are in catchment but a few were not.

Thank you all for your replies. It really helps and yes @TeenMinusTests, the CAF form is now ready and I will make the deadline. Really appreciate everyone's help thank you!
