Laguage aptitude test at GCH

Hi everyone, my DD did the language aptitude test for Grey Coat Hospital on Friday. My question is when and how do we know the result. It is a very stessful time.

We tried calling today - I definitely wouldn’t try that again! We basically told to go away. I’m getting nervous with deadline day approaching. I know last year was a bit different but I don’t think the results were out before deadline day.

@wowsaidtheowl me too very nervous.. Do you know if we will get a call or by post? Do we all get results or just the 15 girls who pass the test??

I think it’s an email. From what I’ve heard there are 15 ‘yes - you can have a spot’ emails and then wait list emails but no idea how many of those!
It’s tricky - we’ve never been into the school, don’t know anyone there so not sure we even want it but we will struggle to find 6 schools without GCH.

The test date was very late in the scheme of things - so I expect that it will go to the wire before we hear (if indeed we do get the outcome before CAF deadline).

I assumed we get actual letters - they didn't ask for email address on the application form.

I gave my email address when I created my online admissions form/account. The website says we will hear by the end of October- 🤞 it’s soon!

I don't think any online registration is relevant? as they said only the form you print off the website and take with you is relevant.

I also came here searching for a clue on when we might get the results and in what format.

Not 100% sure about it, as it seems such a mystery with not having had a tour, but also struggling to find 6 schools to actually put on the list.

@tigerbear all applicants must completed the online SIF so I guess it is pretty relevant!

@wowsaidtheowl - I did actually complete the SIF but I did not think this was a pre-requisite for the language aptitude test. Are they really matching the hardcopy form to these SIFs to find an email address? hope everyone filled the SIF then because I don't think it was clear from the website...

There were emails last year- it would be a huge job to post results to everyone in such a short timeframe but who knows?! Maybe that’s why they were in such a bad mood yesterday!!!

I agree with @Visory I don't think the SIF and language application form are tied. The SIF deadline is Fri 29th, so some parents might wait to hear on a language place BEFORE completing it. Also, the kids only took the paper form into the exam so it would be an onerous job marrying the two up. Perhaps they are in a bad mood as they have realised they should have asked for email addresses on the form. Can't imagine them phoning everyone, so has to be letters. Whether only successful candidates/high wait list candidates get them I don't know.

I get the feeling the school know they will fill all their places so they don't need to try too hard to keep parents informed.

@Sama86 my DD said she did all but the last 3 questions. I still can’t fathom out much of what they actually had to do, aside that it was a made up language.
The whole place seems like a complete mystery tbh!

I have just received an email - says we are unlikely to be offered one of the 15 places. Oh well we tried and have other options.

@wowsaidtheowl what about the banding test?? We live 1.9km from GCH and we are applying for open places.

@sama86 we’re further away than you! Unlikely we’d get a place. To be honest, we absolutely love our first choice and are happy with our second - We were looking for options 3-6! Hopefully we’ll get first choice!

My DD didn’t get a place either, but hoping to also be considered for a church place.
