Has anyone got any experience of this? Dd would like to swap - she has done grade 1 flute and grade 4 singing and is very musical but I know there is more to GCSE Music. Thanks.

On a practical level, I would think a change after half a term is ok as long as she is prepared to 'catch up.' I am ancient, but changed schools and an A level after half a term. It was ok!

My ds did music gcse and did very well. Grade 1 one instrument and 5 level in the other by year 11...

Would be better to change now. I did both and loved both but art really took over. You need so much time, space and coursework.

Will her school allow this after half a term? My school won't usually allow students to swap options past the end of Sept as they have missed so much by then. In my subject year 10 have already completed the first unit of work and completed assessments but an able and motivated child could probably catch up at home. I imagine it would be harder in subjects like art and music where such a lot of practical work has to be completed in school.
