Help me understand Year 11 / GSCE exam timing

I am a step-parent to a Year 11 teenager.
There's a general plan to try for a holiday after their GSCEs in 2022, as I gather the kids in this year finish a bit early?

DP and the teenager both say they don't know when the exams will be yet, but I doubt they will ask proactively. I need to protect some annual leave time at work so am hoping for at least a general idea soon.

Is it true that "no-one knows?"

(My schooling was in a different country, so I'm not up to date with how things work.) And I realise Covid has delayed the planning.

I'm googling but I don't know what sites are reliable.

This is the provisional (note the word "provisional") timetable for AQA.
The different exam boards generally synchronise e.g. everyone sits maths at the same time regardless of exam board.

Normally you would be advised not to take holiday until after the reserve date (which will be used if it's not possible to hold exams on any specific date during the normal window). I'm not sure if this has been announced yet. I would guess it's likely to be the 27th June.

You (Covid assuming dates don't move drastically) will be safe to book a holiday in July, however you should also be aware that schools sometimes have proms then and sixth forms often run taster weeks. It depends on whether your stepchild would want to attend these.
