Ds is a bright boy but really struggles with English lessons, comprehension and oral tasks are ok but struggles with the written work, he’s currently in a mid set (top sets for everything else, English first language etc)
What can I do to support him and push him on a bit?
Any ideas appreciated

Practice writing with him, build up stamina starting with very short bursts - 5 minutes writing about a topic he likes. Also get him to think about how to structure writing - intro, background, arguments, quotes, conclusion etc. And then he needs to apply that to his writing for school. Mirror the language in the question, answer the question. All those basics. I think regular small practice will help stamina and confidence. Good luck.
