Hi, I’m looking for a secondary school for my son. He has speech difficulties, and isn’t very academic (so will struggle with entrance tests). So, I’m looking for a small supportive - great pastoral secondary school in the bromley area. Independent or local - just needs to be right! 🤞 please can anyone recommend one?

Farringtons

I wouldn’t recommend Farringtons at all.
I think it must have been nurturing a long time ago. Things have changed tremendously.
our experience was so dreadful that my son was counting the days to leave. Now he is in therapy as consequence of being there.
I know some parents have happy children there but there are also a great deal of parents unhappy who have moved their children to other schools. Out of 16 year 6 children, half have left Farringtons this year.
We would have loved to be able to stay but my son hated it so much. He had absolutely no support at all.

Oh forgot to mention that although my child is receiving counselling the school offered no pastoral care at all.
We think he might have been left mentally traumatised when a Farringtons teaching staff spilled a hot drink over his legs.

I would look at Bishop Challoner and maybe Bromley Independent Grammar School (used to be Wickham Court).

You don't have to be Catholic (or indeed follow any religion) for BC but there is a fair bit of religious iconography about obviously. Head v nice.
