Grammar schools from North Kensington

Hello All, my DS is currently in Y4 and we are looking at all the state options available for secondary school. Are there any students in North Kensington commuting to the grammars in North London or beyond or is it really too far ?
Thank you.

The best way to decide is to do the journey yourself in the rush hour, carrying bags full of books plus sports kit. Then ask yourself if you want your 11 year old to be doing that ten times a week.

I can't think of a N London grammar to which the journey from
North Ken wouldn't be a complete nightmare. You have a highly-regarded school in your doorstep don't you? Kensington Aldridge?

It's not just the journey to school, you're looking at friends being far away and potentially your DS travelling miles for nights out in his teens. It's not an option I would consider from your part of town.

If it was on a school coach or a single form of transport then it would possibly be doable BUT your child would invariably be spending two hours every day travelling.

I don’t think it’s a straightforward journey though with multiple changes of bus / underground or train. It’s certainly not a journey I would want to be doing, let alone an 11 year old child.

There are also only a very small number of grammars in that area that admit students purely on the basis of score. The rest have proximity to the school tied in somewhere as higher admissions priority. If you were thinking about the Bucks or Watford grammars then you live too far away to get a place, and some have residency clauses which say you must have lived at the address for one to two years prior to admission.
