Just wondered if anyone had tips for what to ask/look for during these sessions. Anything you wished you'd asked before you'd applied?
Obviously I have looked at websites & local authority data in terms of applications/distance etc.
First one tonight and suddenly feeling a little overwhelmed with the potential magnitude of the decision I/we (Dd & I) have to make over the next few weeks.
We won't get 11+ results until after open evenings so have to look at both grammar schools out of area and high schools. Eeekkk.

Ask about whether they set (in different ability classes for each subject) or stream (all the higher ability children in same classes). Sets are good if your child has a spikey profile - e.g good at maths but bad at English. Or they might have mixed ability classes which, to be fair seem to work well until GCSE year - in our experience. Grammar schools will probably only set for maths.

Look at club availability, don't be put off by a large school - larger potential pool of friends and more clubs.
