Hi, we are looking at moving to Sanderstead/Purley and son is in Year 5 in a state primary. We are considering Riddlesdown, Warlingham or Royal Russell, but transport to RR seems long winded and would take 45 mins by public transport. Riddlesdown and Warlingham don't have much finer detail on their websites so can you help! Son loves DT - what clubs around engineering/cars/science do they have and what DT facilities do they have (ie do they have traditional practical stuff or is it quite basic). Is there a hockey club, Riddlesdown seems focussed on football (which he hates!). Finally, what are the class sizes and does setting occur in majority of subjects or just Maths/Science. Would prefer setting across the board. Thank you!!

Sorry I don't know the answers to any of your questions, though we are in the same area and considering these schools too. They all have open days/evenings coming up. Warlingham's is tonight.

I know RR historically and it wasn't great for non international students but I'm guessing that situation will have massively changed since covid.

If you are prepared to pay for RR what about Caterham?

Have you considered Woodcote in Coulsdon?

Riddlesdown’s open evening is on the 30th September. They offer a range of extra curricular activities - steam club, photography, hockey, martial arts, choir…
I’m sure football is popular but I certainly wouldn’t say that they focus on it!

Thanks for the replies so far, appreciated. RR has changed a lot in recent years and have heard lovely things. Would like a school within walking or short bus ride away. Also considering Whitgift and Trinity but not sure he'd pass the exam.
