Device for year 7

Our PC and laptop are so old. So slow and frustrating for my daughter to use when we were home schooling during lockdown. What should we get for her. Its her birthday next month. Are chrome books good enough. Budget £300 ish. thank you 😊

Don't know about chrome books, sorry but at my DC's school it's compulsory to have an Ipad from Year 7.

That's a big ask for parents! How does that work for families who can't afford one?

Chrome book is perfectly fine. We had one all the way through lock down in year 6

@cheesegloriouscheeseyum I agree, I was shocked myself. It's even worse as they only seem to use them in the lower years - not so much in Years 10 and 11.

There is a scheme where parents can pay monthly for the Ipad and insurance and they must have something in place for those who can't afford to pay as there are no pupils without one and a cheaper tablet isn't acceptable.

I pads are out of our price range. Not been asked by school to get anything but some of her homework will be on hwb. (WALES)

We've always gone for reconditioned laptop. You get something of a better spec for less money.
Is there any issue with running Microsoft/Office apps on a Chromebook? Thinking particularly of Teams (if your school uses it).

My child loves her chrome book and the price was lovely too. Never had any problem with the apps.
