Supportive Independent Secondaries

Hi all,

I would be very grateful for independent secondary school suggestions in west / central / north west (not too far north, ideally) London for a very bright boy who needs a higher than usual degree of pastoral care and a nurturing and understanding environment and ethos.

He has anxiety and an occasionally full-on home environment (older sibling with SEND). He is inclined to mask his anxiety and will follow rules / expectations to his own detriment and then can fall apart. We are supporting him with this, but we need the right school environment, too.

That’s an easier brief to fulfil for a girl than a boy. Hopefully others will have suggestions in your target area, but in the meantime as a wild card I wonder whether you might consider Emanuel? Being in Battersea/Clapham Junction it may not be right, but it is easy to get to if (e.g.) you’re on/near the Overground. Friends of our have had very positive experiences there with DC benefiting from strong pastoral care, and we have been impressed with its happy, caring ethos while looking at it lately for DS.
