The Warwick school/Carrington School, Redhill

Hi all,
Is there anyone with any experience of Carrington secondary School (previously called The Warwick School) in Redhill? I know it hasn’t had the best reputation but it seems they have a reasonable head now and some money has been invested in it. We are moving back after 15 years abroad and two of my kids are secondary-age. This is the catchment school for our house in Reigate. Anyone have any insight into whether it’s decent these days?
Thanks so much!

Still probably not the school of choice. Reigate School has a much better reputation and results than Warwick. Catchments are not used locally, it is primarily distance for admissions, but if they have a space in the year group for an In Year applicant it becomes irrelevant anyway.

Thanks so much LIZS. I get the impression Reigate is always over-subscribed so I’m guessing we wouldn’t get in there as we’ll be arriving next summer and looking for a Y10 place and Y8. Do you get the impression Carrington isn’t really on the up then? Any others in the area that you know about/have good reputations? Is it likely we could get into a state school with a better reputation somewhere a bit further away? Sorry- my kids were all born abroad so I’m a bit clueless about all of this!!

You could also look at RAAS(which is state boarding and has a mix of pupils) or Merstham Park (although that is still quite new and have anecdotally heard of unhappy people moving their dc out already). I think it is early days still for Warwick to turn around. An oversubscribed school at the year 7 entry point may yet get interim places crop up.
